Varanasi Tour Packages 2026: Complete Price List, Itinerary & How to Plan Your Trip
Everything you need to plan a memorable trip to Kashi — from ₹1,500 half-day packages to full 4-day spiritual journeys, with honest pricing, day-by-day itineraries, and insider tips only a local would know.
Planning a trip to Varanasi and wondering which tour package to book, how much it actually costs, or whether to trust a travel agency? You are not alone. Every year, thousands of travellers arrive in Kashi overwhelmed by conflicting pricing, pushy touts at the railway station, and no clear picture of what a good Varanasi tour actually looks like.
This guide answers everything. I am Anchal Pandey, founder of Soil n Soul Travels — and more importantly, I was born and raised in the lanes of Banaras. I know this city the way only a local can. In this article, I have put together an honest, complete breakdown of Varanasi tour packages in 2026 — with real prices, real itineraries, and none of the fluff.
"Varanasi does not need to be sold. It needs to be experienced. Our job is just to make sure nothing comes between you and that experience."
— Anchal Pandey, Founder, Soil n Soul TravelsWhy Varanasi is unlike any other destination in India
Varanasi — also known as Kashi, Banaras, or Benares — is considered the oldest living city in the world. It sits on the western bank of the Ganges River in Uttar Pradesh, and for over 3,000 years, it has been the spiritual heart of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism simultaneously. Lord Buddha gave his first sermon just 13 km from here at Sarnath. Kabir, Tulsidas, and Ravidas were all born in the lanes of this city.
But Varanasi is not a monument you can visit and check off a list. It is a living, breathing city where cremations happen beside chai stalls, where classical music floats from rooftops at dawn, and where the Ganges carries both grief and devotion in the same current. No photograph — and no travel reel on Instagram — comes close to being here in person.
This is why choosing the right guide and the right tours and travel agency in Varanasi matters more here than almost anywhere else in India. A bad guide will rush you through the ghats in two hours. A good one will change how you see the world.

2-day Varanasi itinerary — the most popular choice
For most visitors, 2 full days in Varanasi is the sweet spot — enough time to absorb the city without rushing, and to experience both its dawn and dusk in their full glory. Here is how we plan a 2-day trip at Soil n Soul Travels:
Day 1 — Arriving in Kashi
Sunrise boat ride on the Ganges
This is not optional. The Ganges at dawn is one of the most extraordinary sights on earth — priests performing morning rituals, pilgrims bathing in the early mist, the ghats slowly coming to life as the sun rises over the river. We take a private wooden boat from Assi Ghat northward past all 88 ghats.
Breakfast at a riverside café
Chai, kachori sabzi, and lassi — a proper Banarasi breakfast on a rooftop with a view of the ghats. We take you to places locals actually eat, not tourist menus.
Old city heritage walk — the real Banaras
The narrow lanes (galis) of old Banaras are a world within a world. We walk through the silk weavers' quarter, past centuries-old temples, musicians practising at dawn, and the famous Vishwanath Gali. This 90-minute walk cannot be experienced from a car window.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple darshan
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas and among the most sacred temples in Hinduism. We guide you through the new Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor. Queue management and darshan planning are handled by us so you don't waste hours in line.
Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat
Seven priests. Seven fire lamps. Hundreds of flower diyas on the river. The Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is a choreographed spiritual ceremony that has been performed every single evening for centuries — and it never becomes routine. We take you to the best viewing spot, by boat or on the ghats.
Day 2 — Sarnath and the deeper Kashi
Sarnath — where the Buddha gave his first sermon
Just 13 km from the city, Sarnath is where Prince Siddhartha became the Buddha and set the Dhamma Chakra in motion. The Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar (with India's national emblem), and the excellent archaeological museum make this a half-day trip not to be missed — even for Hindu pilgrims.
Lunch in old Banaras
We take you to a family-run thali restaurant in the old city for an authentic Banarasi meal — tamatar chaat, baati chokha, and the famous Banarasi paan to finish.
Manikarnika Ghat — the burning ghat
Varanasi's most powerful and contemplative site. Cremations have been happening here continuously for thousands of years. Our guide explains the spiritual significance respectfully — this is not a tourist spectacle but a deeply moving experience of life's impermanence.
Sunset at Assi Ghat + evening departure or rest
Assi Ghat at sunset is Banaras at its most relaxed — musicians, yoga practitioners, students, sadhus, and travellers all sharing the steps. The perfect final hour before your train or flight, or a quiet end to your last evening in the city.
3-day Varanasi + Sarnath itinerary
If you have a third day, we strongly recommend using it for one of three additions: a day trip to Prayagraj (Triveni Sangam, 120 km away), a deeper dive into Kashi's lesser-known temples (Durga Temple, Sankat Mochan, Tulsi Manas), or a morning yoga and meditation session by the Ganges with a local teacher. All three options are available through Soil n Soul Travels and can be added to any 2-night package.
- Wake up at 4:30 AM and walk to the ghats alone (or with a guide) before the crowds arrive. The city at this hour belongs to the priests, the dogs, and the river. Most tourists sleep through it.
- Stay at a ghat-facing guesthouse even for one night — the view from a rooftop at dawn is something you will carry with you for years.
- Eat at a street stall. Varanasi's food is extraordinary — the tamatar chaat near Assi Ghat and the kachori at Deena Chaat are worth the trip alone.
Ganga Aarti Varanasi — complete guide for 2026
The Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is the single most visited spiritual event in Varanasi. It takes place every evening and draws thousands of devotees and visitors year-round. Here is everything you need to know:
| Month | Aarti Start Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| October – February | 6:00 – 6:30 PM | Most popular season; arrive by 5:45 PM |
| March – April | 6:30 – 7:00 PM | Pleasant weather; moderate crowds |
| May – June | 7:00 – 7:30 PM | Extreme heat; early morning boat ride recommended instead |
| July – September | 6:30 – 7:00 PM | Monsoon season; ghats can flood; check with us first |
Boat view vs. ghat view: Watching the Aarti from a boat on the river gives you the full panoramic view — all seven priests in a line with the ghats behind them. Watching from the ghat steps puts you inside the ceremony, surrounded by the crowd, the incense, and the sound. Both are extraordinary. We offer both in our evening Aarti tour package.
Dev Deepawali 2026: If you can visit Varanasi on the full moon of Kartik (November 5, 2026), you will witness Dev Deepawali — when all 88 ghats are lit with millions of earthen diyas. It is the most spectacular night of the year in Varanasi. Book well in advance — hotels sell out 3–4 months ahead.
Best time to visit Varanasi in 2026
The ideal window is October to March. The weather is cool (12–26°C), the ghats are fully accessible, and all major festivals fall in this period. November is particularly special for Dev Deepawali and the post-monsoon clarity of the river. February brings the Ganga Mahotsav music festival — one of the finest classical music events in northern India.
If you must visit in summer (April–June), travel before 8 AM and after 6 PM. We adjust all tour timings accordingly. July–September is monsoon season — the ghats flood, but the city takes on an entirely different, quieter beauty that some travellers prefer.
How to choose the right travel agency in Varanasi
Varanasi has hundreds of self-declared "travel agents" — many of them touts outside railway stations or hotels earning commissions. Here is what separates a genuine tours and travel agency in Varanasi from a roadside operator:
- They give you a written itinerary and price before you pay anything
- There are no "shopping stops" built into the tour (silk shops, gem stores) where the guide earns a commission
- The guide is a trained, knowledgeable local — not a driver moonlighting as a guide
- They have verifiable Google reviews from real travellers — read the negative ones carefully
- They answer questions honestly, including questions about what their tour does NOT include
- Their pricing is transparent — no "later we add charges" after you arrive
At Soil n Soul Travels, we are a women-led agency founded on a single principle: honest, heartfelt travel. Every price in this article is what you actually pay. Every experience we offer is one we believe in. And because I grew up here, I will never show you a version of Varanasi designed for tourists — I will show you the city I love.
